Business networking websites, or more generally, “social networking” sites with a business bent are exploding across the Internet. If you’ve resisted the temptation to join or participate in any of these online communities thinking them frivolous, it’s time to reconsider.

There are thousands of social networking sites on the Web. These are the 10 that stood out from the survey. They may not be your favorites, or even make a difference in your life at all, but they're the one's that have done something online. MySpace is still the first in the big categories, but its trends in some key areas aren’t quite so dominating and, at least in those areas, they could be looking up at more than Facebook soon.
